Here is a receipt I never thought I would find. This is, effectively, the first receipt of my adult life, as it documents the day I left home forever to live in New York, where I have lived for almost 17 years. The dust nuggets on the top left corner illustrate how I found this receipt in a pile of old garbage at the back of my bedroom closet. I never, ever, thought I would see this receipt again, having not seen it for 17 years, but I am happy to see it now. I have placed it under a magnet on my refrigerator door. This trip sent me to Philadelphia, where I stayed with a college friend for a few days before hurtling in to NYC the following Monday. This receipt fills me with something, I just can't say precisely what, but it is all good.
